Over the years there have been some beautiful storybook fairytales that involve princes and princesses. Two of the stories most loved by children are Snow White and Cinderella. Both Snow White and Cinderella are stories collected by the Brothers Grimm in the early 19th century. These German brothers published collections of folk tales and fairy stories including Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin and Hansel and Gretel.
There have been quite a few television and movie versions of both Snow White and Cinderella. The most famous version of Snow White has to be the 1937 animated version by Disney called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Disney also made an animated version of Cinderella in 1950. Both stories tell of beautiful young girls, both with wicked stepmothers who ill-treat them. However, as with all good fairytales, there is a happy ending in which both of them find love with handsome princes.
Of course, Cinderella and Snow White are lovely stories of gentle girls who fall in love with their Prince. However, if you prefer a feistier role model, then you could look to Princess Leia from Star Wars or a Warrior Princess as depicted by the popular television show, Xena or Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman, also known as Diana Prince, was the daughter of Amazon Queen Hippolyta and was a princess of the Amazons.
Whatever type of princess you’d like to be there is a costume available. You can wear a Princess dress up costume to your Halloween Party, themed party or just because you feel like it. We all deserve to be treated like a Princess.
